  • Teaches a richly developed textile program that includes Intro – Advanced Textiles and Material Studies studio courses and Intro – Advanced Weaving studio courses

  • In both textiles and weaving, ancient and modern techniques are explored through the creation of major projects, samples, research, and presentations

  • Students are encouraged to delve into artists of historical significance, emerging contemporary artists, other art forms that can manifest as fiber art, and their own research interests for conceptual inspiration

  • Courses are offered to a range of students including advanced, graduate, and non-majors, which are tailored to each individual’s specific needs for success

  • Provides opportunities outside of the classroom for students, including:  professional development field trips, commission works, exhibitions, scholarships, and options to work with other members of the community

  • Created and taught curriculum for non-art undergraduates that focused on traditional and non-traditional fiber techniques, including:  basic weaving techniques, surface design (MX procion dyeing, shibori, other resist techniques, beading, image transfer, textile paint, embroidery, machine stitching, etc.), and the transformation and manipulation of everyday materials to create sculpture

  • Through the creation of projects and out-of-class assignments that fostered creative thinking, students were encouraged to apply learned concept toward their own careers

  • Worked with artist, David Quay, in the creation of a commissioned 5’, free-standing Buddha sculpture for a public space
